Patient Information Forum

As well as the ‡øëHŠÊ˜·³Ç working directly with Health Charites we are committed to membership of the Patient Information Forum.
The Patient Information Forum (PIF) is an independent organisation that represents more than 300 organisations across the NHS, voluntary, academic, freelance and commercial sectors. Their expert guidance on the production of high-quality health information supports an improved healthcare experience for patients and the public.
PIF help their members to provide high-quality, clearly communicated, evidence-based healthcare information. Their aim is to empower people to make informed decisions about their health and improve outcomes. Their philosophy is that health information is a therapy in its own right and should be accessible to all.
The ‡øëHŠÊ˜·³Ç are members of the Patient Information Forum, which provide annual training for our staff and taster training for members together with newsletters and access to forums and expertise.
The ‡øëHŠÊ˜·³Ç are also proud to have participate in the annual PIF TICK audit to be recognised as trusted providers of high quality health information.

The PIF TICK is the only independently-assessed quality mark for print and digital health information. It helps people identify trusted, evidence-based information.

The ‡øëHŠÊ˜·³Ç has produced this sourcebook to support pharmaceutical companies in working successfully and collaboratively with patients and patient organisations. We want to support relationships that are in the interests of patients and within the law and the ‡øëHŠÊ˜·³Ç Code. We also hope that the sourcebook will be helpful to patient organisations as they build partnerships with industry.

The ‡øëHŠÊ˜·³Ç Code of Practice places requirements on industry to publish annual lists of payments to patient organisations, and we endorse this approach. Currently, there is no similar requirement for those patient organisations in receipt of grants or funds from industry. In response, the ‡øëHŠÊ˜·³Ç has put together some advice for local disclosure mechanisms, based on current practice among industry.

The ‡øëHŠÊ˜·³Ç has produced this sourcebook to support pharmaceutical companies, patients and patient organisations work together successfully, with relationships that are in the interests of patients and meet the standards set out in the 2021 ‡øëHŠÊ˜·³Ç Code of Practice.
